Technology practically consumes us; we can’t make it through the day without using our computer, smartphone and tablets to connect online in order to do business, find information and connect with other individuals. In fact, some people can’t make it through the day without going on Facebook or Twitter on their smartphone. So what if we lost our ability to access technology?
We’re seeing shows and movies of various events that may cause our society to go through human endangerment. Zombie viruses, loss of all electrical power, alien invasions and even renegade cyborgs makes me wonder if we as a civilization today can survive in a world without snazzy gadgets and gizmos that we all have become accustomed to interact with in our daily lives. In a curiosity on behavioral study, would our instincts to survive strengthen as we adapt to a harsher environment like our ancestors from thousands of years ago or will we fall by our own innovations an unpreparedness for possible world changes and become extinct? The Bible, the Mayans, and Nostradamus all predicted a world ending event but can the human race continue moving on?
I would love to get into a discussion on this and fortunately the Hispanic organization, Being Latino, is preparing a Twitter chat on this topic. In partnership with NAT GEO Mundo, the Spanish sister channel of National Geographic Channel and NAT GEO Wild that launched in 2011, Being Latino will help celebrate the production of a new series for NAT GEO Mundo called Preparados Para El Fin Del Mundo that revolves around regular American families who takes extra steps in preparing for an uncertain future.
The Twitter chat starts on December 13 from 8 pm to 9pm ET and we will engage in conversations that surrounds the families’ strong intentions to survive as well as a chance to share our own beliefs and apocalyptic possibilities. Maybe you can get some pointers, you never know when you might need them.
To get involved in the chat follow the tweets through the Tweet hashtag #Preparados. Through out the evening, you might win some prizes so stay tuned! For more information about the show and the upcoming Twitter chat head to Being Latino. I’ll be part of the panel so let’s share some ideas, see you all soon!
