The purpose of my blog is to promote Latinos and online technology. How we as a local community here in the United States as well as Latino countries utilize the internet for consumption, academics, business and entertainment. Study after study shows that we are leaders in early adoption and we can be successful at any personal endeavor if we apply the free technology that is given to us, the internet.
A colleague of mine, Mari González, brought something to my attention that perhaps you can help. There are 80 million people in the U.S. who can’t afford Internet at home—most of them from low-income Latino households. That means their children are not being able to do their homework assignments that require Internet access or to apply to college and jobs online. I for one would like to see all Latino families to be fully integrated in our society and economy.
I see that about 25% of Americans are affected by the “Digital Divide.” They have the inability to access the Internet due to high monthly costs and we need to stop this or else some households, especially children will be left behind as digital natives.
You can help by joining the movement and signing the petition found in at Care2 Petitions to let the FCC know that we need affordable internet for everybody.
