Latino media is on the rise not only here in the United States but also in Latin America and the Caribbean. Latinos are able to access data, information and multimedia from various desktop and mobile devices and they are very adept at online socializing and utilizing various social media platforms. Mobile technology continues to evolve and Latinos are able to adapt to it quickly and startups are beginning to sprout within local Latin American regions. As we hear success stories by entrepreneurs and the latest media research, more events and meetups are coming together so that professionals from all forms of media and marketing can be inspired on what’s happening within the media ecosystem.
The Festival of Media LatAm is the only yearly focused event for the Latin American media industry, celebrating local media creativity and innovation. The Festival draws together the regional leadership of media agency networks, the most innovative media owners and Latin America’s most powerful and progressive advertisers. Taking place at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Resort from September 25 to 27. This year’s festival will explore the increase in international, regional and local business and collaboration across Latin America and the growth of key markets.
The Festival agenda will look at how brands are dealing with the Latino growth, how they are continuing to navigate the political climate across the region and how Latino brands and culture are being exported across the world. This year’s Festival of Media LatAm will also showcase winning campaigns from The Festival of Media Global 2013 held in Montreux in April. Best Social Media Campaign, ‘Follow2Unfollow’ by Starcom and the Puerto Rican government, involved real prisoners Tweeting about their lives in prison to discourage young people from joining gangs. Public Service Award winner, ‘First ever potable billboard’ from BPN and UTEC in Peru, was recognized for designing a billboard that converted air humidity into water for local people.
The conference concludes with The Festival of Media LatAm 2013 Awards gala dinner on September 27, when the award winners will be announced at a gala dinner. Four new categories for this year are Best Original Content, The Pan-Latin America Award, Best US Hispanic Campaign and Best Contribution to a Campaign by a Media Owner; there is time to book for this great event.
