We all have been witnessing the changes of the UI or User Interface as coders and programmers combine creativity and engineering to develop the latest interactive graphics that are both cognitively visual and intuitive. We have all become accustomed to displays that have tactile elements such as buttons and swipes as those we interact in the physical world.
The success of the smartphones has led us to subconsciously understand how it functions after each generation, even if we switch from one model to the next. This goes the same with apps and websites. Once we activate them we know where to go, what to press and what to see despite the various designs of the functionality.
With the advent of Google Glass where the interface is based on eye tracking are we on the verge of a touchless interface? There’s already research of the human mind interacting with a computer interface.
It looks like what we have been seeing in the science fiction movies is becoming a reality, a combination of art and technology. For instance, check out the interface design by designer Kristoffer Brady. You can see from the video that it is in a way is a work of art. The animation looks so seamless that you can just glide your fingers across the display and the graphics will respond to your touch almost instantaneously.
So what do you think will be the next user interface design?
